Plasma Works for Boston Museum

Plasma News ArticleThis summer, Pioneer USA generously donated three PDP- 505CMX, 50" professional plasmas to the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston, Massachusetts.  The museum, a non-profit organization, prides itself on the central vision that "Art is for Everyone." To fully convey this mission, the museum is currently undertaking an ambitious renovation of its facilities.  The project begins this fall, and upon completion, will expand the museum by 28% or roughly the size of two football fields.  The redesign is meant to give museum visitors greater access to collections as well as enhance their interaction with the artwork.

The plasmas are currently up and running behind the admission counter in the West Wing Entrance, which is used by a majority of the more than one million art enthusiasts who visit the MFA every year.  The West Wing houses the museum's Contemporary Art exhibits; fittingly Pioneer's plasmas are helping this fine art museum stay on the cutting edge of visual arts.  The screens are being utilized to preview exhibitions, several of which feature Japanese art.  As an interactive tool, the new plasmas help the museum to effectively promote their diverse programs rather than the previous use of stationary imagery.  In fact, as of October 2006, the museum reports they have experienced an 8% increase in traffic to the galleries which are featured on the plasmas.  Once the new museum wing is complete, the Pioneer plasmas will be utilized in the renovated area to promote the MFA's education programs, films, concerts and other special events.

Plasma News ArticleThe MFA was introduced to Pioneer through the museum's Chairman of the Art of Asia Department.  Pioneer was only one of a select few brands to be considered for this renovation project.  "We are very lucky to have only the best in art and technology hanging on our walls," said Phil Getchell, museum representative.

Just as Pioneer is proud to contribute to the modern revamp of the museum, the museum is just as rewarded to showcase Pioneer product.  "It is wonderful to know that we have generous friends in Japan who understand our mission to communicate the MFA's fabulous collections to the widest possible audience," said Malcolm Rogers, museum director.
